November brings the season for giving thanks, a time when Americans pause, reflect and count our blessings. It’s also an important month when we remember our veterans and their families. Since 1954, November 11th has been observed as the national holiday we call Veterans Day. It’s a solemn day to honor American veterans of all wars and thank them for all they do to make our world a safer place. In November, we also honor veterans’ families as we celebrate “Veterans and Military Families Appreciation Month" to recognize the great sacrifices they make each and every day.
Saturday, November 26th, is Small Business Saturday. Many small businesses have struggled these past few years. Shutdowns during the pandemic and ongoing staffing and supply shortages have delivered a one-two punch that’s left many companies reeling. When you shop locally, you’re not only supporting local businesses, but you’re individually stimulating your local economy. So shop small, shop local whenever you can.
November is also the open enrollment period for most employer-sponsored health insurance plans and the Affordable Care Act marketplace. Missing deadlines can be an expensive mistake. Be sure to dig deep and explore the resources available, determine if your current plan has changed, and compare out-of-pocket costs associated with each option. Doing your due diligence and meeting the enrollment dates will ensure you get the best bang for your buck.
As you gather on November 24th for Thanksgiving Day, we hope you have much to be grateful for, including family, good friends, good health, and the many freedoms we enjoy because of our brave veterans. Please know how thankful we are to have you as our client!
As always, if there’s anything we can help you with, please don’t hesitate to reach out. We’re sending a special thank you to our veterans and a Bountiful Thanksgiving to all!
