TITLE/DESCRIPTION: Understanding Title II Disability Benefits and Work
There are three different types of programs SSA runs for people with disabilities under Title II, including the Childhood Disability Benefits also known as Disabled Adult Child (CDB/DAC).
Title II has five “return to work” stages. Working can affect Title II benefits depending on which stage of work the person is in and how much they earn.
In this webinar, we will review the basic Title II rules around working and the “work incentives” that can be used to continue to receive the monthly cash benefit. We will explain how Medicare continues, even if a person is not eligible to receive a cash benefit due to earned income.
In addition, we will cover how to retain Medicaid coverage when a person is transferred from
Supplemental Security Income (SSI) to CDB/DAC, and what effect the transfer has on
someone’s Home and Community-Based Services Waiver slot. You’ll learn where to get free
assistance so you can better understand what happens to the Title II benefit and Medicare
when your child is actively looking for work or is already working.
